Welcome to the web site of the District Grand Council of Southern India of the Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees which functions under the aegis of the Grand Council of the Order of Allied Masonic Degrees of England and Wales and Districts and Councils overseas, and head quartered at  the Mark Masons Hall, 86 St.James Street, London.

Allied Masonry has existed in India for over 130 years  since the consecration of Excelsior AMD  Council at Kolkatta on 24th June.1881.The District of Southern India  is rather new, being upgraded from  an Inspectorate to a full fledged District on 27th  September 2011. The District comprises of the States of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry  and the Union Territories of  Andamans & Nicobar and Lakshwadweep.

The Order has seen rapid growth in Southern India- called the cradle of Masonry in India, since the first AMD Council was consecrated in at Chennai in 2007. At present there are  five AMD Councils in the District of Southern India, meeting at Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Kasaragod, and Hyderabad.  The District Office is headquartered along with the other Mark Mason Hall Orders at the Freemasons Hall, Chennai in the State of Tamil Nadu.
